What is My Legal Pal?
My Legal Pal is a cross-border legal services firm that helps founders, startups, and growing businesses with contracts, intellectual property, corporate structure and company registration, data and privacy documentation, and disputes. Who founded My Legal Pal?
My Legal Pal was founded by Prakhar Rai, an advocate enrolled with the Bar Council of India and an alumnus of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, with a Master of Business Laws and over ten years of experience advising startups, technology companies, and SMEs across India, the UAE, the UK, and Southeast Asia. He leads a team of qualified lawyers across contracts, corporate, IP, and disputes.
Which countries does My Legal Pal serve?
We work with founders and businesses worldwide and specialise in cross-border matters. We have deep India expertise, and we advise on and coordinate work across the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, the UAE, Singapore, and Australia. Company registration in India is a fully live service, with other jurisdictions advised on and coordinated.
Is My Legal Pal a law firm or a legal-tech platform?
We are a lawyer-led legal services firm. Technology makes us faster and more accessible, but every matter is handled by a qualified lawyer who reviews your actual situation. The technology supports the legal judgment you are paying for; it does not replace it.
How are My Legal Pal’s fees structured?
We work on fixed, transparent fees wherever possible. Each service has an indicative starting price so you have a clear idea of cost, and we provide a precise custom quote for your specific requirement before any work begins. There are no hourly surprises or hidden charges. The starting prices for each service are listed in the sections below.
How do I contact My Legal Pal or get a quote?
Send a message through the contact form on this page, email contact@mylegalpal.com, or message us on WhatsApp at +91 8004800100. Tell us what you are working on and a lawyer will respond with a clear next step and a fixed-fee quote.
Contracts and commercial agreements
What contract services do you offer?
How much does contract drafting or review cost?
Standard contract drafting or review starts from around ₹5,000 in India (roughly $99 for international clients), with commercial agreements such as an MSA or partnership agreement from around ₹15,000. Complex, high-value, or cross-border agreements start higher. Every contract is quoted precisely for your situation, so the starting price gives you a baseline while the custom quote reflects the actual work.
Do you draft NDAs and confidentiality agreements?
Yes. We draft one-way, mutual, and multi-party NDAs and confidentiality agreements for clients worldwide. A simple NDA starts from around $75, a standard or mutual NDA from around $110, and complex or cross-border agreements from $150, with a custom quote for your specific need. Most are delivered in 24 to 48 hours.
Do you draft terms and conditions and website policies?
Yes. We draft terms and conditions, terms of service, and the policy documents a website or app needs. Pricing depends on the complexity of your platform and is quoted after a short review, with a clear starting point provided up front.
Can you draft employment contracts for different countries?
Yes. We draft employment and HR contracts to the labour law of the jurisdiction where your employee works, since employment is governed by local mandatory law. An offer letter or simple agreement starts from around $99, a full employment agreement from around $149, and an HR document set from around $299, with a precise quote for your role and jurisdiction.
Company registration and startup documents
Do you help with company registration?
Yes. We handle company registration and incorporation, beginning with India as a fully live service and extending to advisory and coordination for the US, UK, UAE, Singapore, and Australia. We advise on the right jurisdiction and entity type before filing, so you incorporate correctly the first time. Indian incorporation typically completes in 7 to 15 working days once documents are ready, with the fee quoted after a short structure consultation.
Do you draft founders’ agreements?
Yes. We draft founders’ agreements covering equity split, vesting, roles, decision-making, and what happens if a founder leaves. A standard two-founder agreement starts from around $199, a multi-founder or unequal-split agreement from around $299, and complex or cross-border agreements from $399, with a custom quote for your team. Most are delivered in 2 to 4 days.
Do you draft shareholders’ agreements?
Yes. We draft and negotiate shareholders’ agreements covering share transfers, tag and drag-along rights, board composition, reserved matters, and investor protections. A founders-only SHA starts from around $299, an investor SHA from around $499, and complex or VC-stage agreements from $799, quoted precisely for your company.
Do you offer ongoing legal support for startups?
Yes. Our startup legal retainer gives growing companies a fractional general-counsel function: ongoing contracts, advice, and document support for a predictable monthly fee, quoted to your needs and stage.
Intellectual property
What intellectual property services do you offer?
We cover the full range of intellectual property work: trademark registration, patent registration, design registration, and copyright registration, along with enforcement such as cease-and-desist notices and takedowns when someone infringes your rights.
How much does trademark registration cost in India?
For trademark registration in India, the government fee is ₹4,500 per class for individuals, startups, and small enterprises (the concessional rate) and ₹9,000 per class for others, filed online. Our professional fee is quoted on top of the government fee and starts from a clear, fixed amount, with the exact figure confirmed once we know your classes and requirements. We also handle objections and oppositions.
Do you handle patent registration?
Yes. We assist with patent registration, including patent searches, drafting, and filing, working with registered patent agents. India’s patent office uses a tiered fee structure depending on applicant type, and we quote the professional fee clearly alongside it once we understand your invention.
What can I do if someone copies my brand or content?
Depending on the situation, we can send a legal notice or cease-and-desist, file a takedown, or pursue enforcement. The first step is usually a quick assessment of your rights and the infringement, after which we advise on the most effective and proportionate route, with the cost quoted to the action required.
Data, privacy, and disputes
Do you draft privacy policies and cookie policies?
Can you help resolve a dispute without going to court?
Yes. Much of dispute work is resolved before litigation. We handle negotiation and mediation, send legal notices, and advise on pre-litigation strategy, with the aim of resolving matters efficiently and preserving the relationship where possible. Cost is quoted to the matter after an initial assessment.
Do you provide legal opinions and research?
Yes. We provide written legal opinions on specific questions, useful when you need a clear, reasoned position on a point of law before making a decision. These are quoted based on the complexity and scope of the question.
What if I am not sure which service I need?
That is completely normal, and it is exactly what an initial conversation is for. Tell us the situation in plain terms through the contact form, and a lawyer will identify what you actually need, which is sometimes less than you expected, and give you a clear recommendation and quote. We would rather point you to the right service than sell you the wrong one.
Pricing and working with us
Why do you give a starting price and then a custom quote?
Because legal work genuinely varies. A simple NDA and a multi-party cross-border NDA are both “an NDA” but take very different amounts of work. The starting price tells you the realistic floor for a service so you are never in the dark, and the custom quote, given before any work begins, reflects what your specific matter actually needs. You always know the cost before you commit.
Are your prices in rupees or dollars?
Both. India-focused services such as company registration and contract work in India are typically quoted in Indian rupees; global services such as NDAs, founders’ agreements, and employment contracts are quoted in US dollars for clarity. We work with clients worldwide and can quote in your currency.
How quickly can you turn work around?
Most standard documents, NDAs, simple contracts, offer letters, are delivered in 24 to 48 hours. Founders’ agreements and similar take 2 to 4 days, shareholders’ agreements 3 to 6 days, and company registration in India 7 to 15 working days once documents are ready. We give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
Do you offer a free consultation?
We are happy to discuss your requirement and provide a quote at no cost. Tell us what you need through the contact form or on WhatsApp, and a lawyer will respond with a clear next step. Detailed legal advice itself is part of the paid engagement, but understanding what you need and what it will cost is always free.
