How much does a lawyer charge to reply to a legal notice?
Most replies at My Legal Pal cost between ₹3,000 and ₹8,000, depending on the length of the notice, the number of allegations and the documents involved. We fix the fee in writing after we read the notice. Large recovery claims and IBC notices are quoted separately, and postage is extra.
How quickly can you send the reply?
Most replies are ready in 2 to 5 business days. If your deadline is shorter, tell us when you contact us. We check the real deadline first, because some notices set one by law and others only ask for a response by a date the sender chose.
My deadline is tomorrow. Can you still help?
Send the notice on WhatsApp straight away with the date you received it. We tell you whether a full reply can be ready in time, or whether we should first send a short letter acknowledging the notice and asking for more time, followed by the full reply.
Will the reply go out under an advocate’s name?
Yes. We act on a signed authority from you, and the reply is sent by an advocate on your behalf. A lawyer-signed reply tells the other side that the matter is being handled properly. If you prefer to sign the reply yourself, we can prepare it that way.
What documents do you need from me?
Start with the notice, the envelope or email it came in, and the date you received it. Then send the contract, invoices, payment records and messages behind the dispute, plus a few lines on your version of events. We tell you what is missing, and what to keep out of the file.
Can you reply to a notice I received by email or WhatsApp?
Yes. Send it to us as you received it, with the full message details. We reply by email and by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due, so there is a clear record of delivery.
Can you negotiate a settlement with the other side?
Yes, where it suits your case. We keep any settlement offer separate from the denials in the reply and word it so it does not hurt your position if the dispute goes to court. See
negotiation and mediation.
I got a cheque bounce notice. What should I do first?
Check the date you received it, because the 15 days to pay run from then. Send us the notice, the cheque and the bank memo the same day. We tell you whether to pay, dispute or do both, and we check whether the notice was sent in time and for the right amount.
What happens after you send the reply?
The other side may withdraw, negotiate, ask for clarification or file a case. We tell you what each outcome means and what it would cost. If a case is filed, appearing in court is a separate engagement, and we explain the scope and the fee before you decide.
Do you reply to notices from banks, companies and other businesses?
Yes. We reply to notices from banks, NBFCs, vendors, customers, employers and other companies, including IBC demand notices. For a large claim, send the notice early, so we can plan the evidence and the strategy.
