Is one trademark valid worldwide?
No. Trademark rights are territorial. A registration protects you only in the country or region where it is granted. To protect your brand internationally, you file in each country that matters, either directly or through the Madrid Protocol.
What is the Madrid Protocol?
It is an international system run by WIPO that lets you file one application, in one language, to seek trademark protection in more than 120 member countries, based on a home application or registration. It simplifies filing and renewals across many markets.
Should I file nationally or through Madrid?
For a small number of specific markets, national filing is often simpler and more cost-effective, and it is the only route for non-member countries. For several markets at once, Madrid is usually more economical and easier to manage. We advise the right route, or a mix, for your target countries.
How long does international registration take?
It varies by country. Many registrations take roughly a year to eighteen months when unopposed, though some offices are faster and others slower. Objections or oppositions extend the timeline. We give you a realistic estimate for each market you choose.
What is a clearance search and do I need one?
A clearance search checks whether a similar mark already exists in your target market before you file. It is strongly recommended, because filing a mark that conflicts with an existing one wastes the official fees and can invite opposition. We run it as a first step.
What are trademark classes?
Goods and services are grouped into classes under the Nice Classification. You register your mark in the classes that match what you sell. The classes you choose define the scope of your protection, so getting them right matters.
Can you guarantee my trademark will be registered?
No one can guarantee registration, because each office examines the mark and third parties can oppose it. What we do is run a proper clearance search, file a well-prepared application, and respond to objections, which gives your application the best chance of success.
How long does a registered trademark last?
In most countries a trademark registration lasts ten years and is renewable indefinitely in further ten-year terms, as long as the renewal fees are paid and the mark remains in use. We track renewal deadlines so your protection does not lapse.
Which countries can you file in?
We file in India and internationally, including the US, UK, EU, UAE, Singapore, Australia, Canada, and more than 120 Madrid member countries. Tell us your markets and we will confirm the route and cost for each.
